Checkout a few styles that we fell for this week and take some of the fuss out of your morning routine.

Spring Cleaning

Open the windows, air the rooms out, and clean the house/car thoroughly. That is what we think of when it comes time for this yearly ritual.  It is about the only time a year we feel excitement about spraying rooms with Lysol or wiping down the walls.  However, we tend to overlook the cleaning and sorting out of important products detrimental to our health….BEAUTY PRODUCTS.  As much as we hate to throw out the $24 mascara we just splurged on, keeping beauty products past their shelf life is dangerous and is a breeding ground for bacteria.  Below is a guideline for you to use to go through your skin, hair, and makeup products and stock up on new ones for the warm seasons coming up.

CLEANSERS and MOISTURIZERS: 6 MONTHS

Target, Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser-8 Oz, $5.99
Kiehls, Ultra Facial Oil-Free Lotion, $26
Lush, 9-5 Cleansing Lotion, $10.95-$21.95

LIQUID FOUNDATION: 3-6 MONTHS

Lord and Taylor, CLARINS Skin Illusion Foundation, $38
Macy’s, Clinique Superbalanced Makeup Foundation 1 fl oz, $23

CONCEALER: 6-8 MONTHS

Nordstrom, MAC Studio Finish SPF 35 Concealer, $18
The Body Shop, Concealer All-In-One, $12

POWDERS: 1 YEAR

Korres, MINERAL FOUNDATION Wild Rose SPF 30, $28
Macy’s, Origins Multi-Grain Pressed Bronzer, $21
Sephora, Benefit Bella Bamba, $28

EYE SHADOW: 2-3 YEARS

Sephora, Urban Decay The Vice Palette, $59
Bloomingdales, MAC Pro Longwear Eye Shadow, $21
Target, Maybelline New York Eye Studio Color Explosion Shadow-Pink Punch, $8.54

EYE-LINER: 1 YEAR. Make sure to sharpen them often.

Bloomingdales, NARS Long-Wear Eyeliner, $24
Barneys New York, Sue Devitt Eye Intensifier Pencil, $22
Sephora, Sephora Collection Retractable Waterproof Eyeliner, $12

MASCARA: 3 MONTHS

Aveda, Mossacre, $18
Kohl’s, FLIRT! Lash-a-delic FAST DEFINING MASCARA, $15
Korres, VOLCANIC MINERALS, $20

LIPSTICK/LIPGLOSS: 1 YEAR

Nordstrom, NYX ‘Butter’ Lip Gloss, $5
Sephora, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar, $18
Target, Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick, $4.99

One more important tip to remember since you are spring cleaning your cosmetics, is not forgetting new makeup brushes.  Try to clean them once every 2 weeks to keep bacteria from growing on them and spreading them onto your skin.

Sephora, SEPHORA COLLECTION Purifying Brush Shampoo, $6
Macy’s, Estee Lauder Makeup Brush Cleanser, $15.50

TLC for Those Tresses

We just finished going through a season of parties, intense hair styling, straighteners, and curling irons that can have our hair screaming with damage. Not to mention as the frigid temperatures drop lower, more moisture can get robbed from our strands. It’s February, and while we are going crazy with Spring Fever overload, we are not quite there yet. Soon enough we will be able to enjoy that care free look when styling our hair in the warmer months. Until then, we have to make sure our locks are getting the moisture and treatment they deserve. Don’t worry…it’s nothing a good conditioner can’t fix.
